The 27th constitutional amendment is rejected by the PTI parliamentary session.

The 27th Constitutional Amendment has been rejected by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), a parliamentary party, which has called it inappropriate and dubious.

Senate Parliamentary Leader Senator Ali Zafar presided over a parliamentary party meeting where the decision was made. The session was attended by Senators Dr. Humayun Mehmood, Falak Naz, Noor-ul-Haq Qadri, and Allama Nasir Abbas.

The PTI developed their plan for the next Senate session during the meeting. The party declared that it would demonstrate against the higher judiciary’s refusal to hear issues involving PTI founder Imran Khan and his wife.

The ruling coalition, which includes the PML-N, PPP, and its supporters, was charged by the PTI parliamentary party in an official declaration of destroying laws in order to circumvent moral and constitutional requirements. The party contended that the change threatens fundamental human rights and subverts parliamentary ideals by marginalizing the opposition. It also voiced grave concerns about efforts to limit the judiciary’s autonomy and authority.

The statement also criticized the Senate minority leader’s notification delays and called for the notification to be sent out immediately for Allama Nasir Abbas, the PTI founder’s nominee. The party has tasked its members with contacting independent senators in an effort to bolster resistance to the amendment.

The PTI reaffirmed its position that the 27th amendment is incompatible with democratic ideals and promised to keep voicing concerns both within and outside the Senate until the proper constitutional processes are followed.
