To reduce traffic infractions throughout the state, the Punjab government has authorized the implementation of a new traffic license points system.

Details indicate that the provincial cabinet has approved the Traffic Police’s report, which calls for driving license suspensions and severe fines for infractions.

According to the summary, there will now be a minimum charge of Rs. 2,000 and a maximum fine of Rs. 20,000 for 25 different sorts of traffic infractions. Additionally, each infraction will result in a deduction of two to four points. A driver’s license will be suspended for two months to a year if they accrue 20 penalty points in a single year.

According to the new regulations, speeding will result in a 4-point loss and a fine of between Rs. 2,000 and Rs. 20,000. Fines for signal infractions range from Rs. 2,000 to Rs. 15,000, and four points will be deducted.

Overloading will result in a 4-point deduction and fines ranging from Rs. 2,000 to Rs. 15,000. In addition to four penalty points, one-way infractions will result in fines ranging from Rs. 2,000 to Rs. 15,000.

A 4-point reduction and a fine ranging from Rs. 3,000 to Rs. 15,000 will be imposed for reckless driving. Using a pressure horn will result in a 2-point deduction and fines ranging from Rs. 2,000 to Rs. 10,000.

The province-wide implementation of these more stringent procedures is intended to increase road safety and ensure adherence to traffic laws.
