A consensus will be reached to approve the 27th Amendment: Sanaullah

On Friday, Rana Sanaullah, the Prime Minister’s advisor on political affairs, stated that efforts are on to reach an agreement and mutual understanding in order to adopt the 27th Constitutional Amendment.

Speaking on a private television program in the nation’s capital, Rana Sanaullah said that mutual agreement will be the means by which constitutional issues are resolved. He admitted that there is an imbalance between the federal government and the provinces in some sectors as a result of the 18th Amendment, which needs to be addressed through discussion.

He asserted that since the provinces are in charge of running the federation and the federation is in charge of running the provinces, such issues can only be resolved via dialogue and collaboration.

Positive progress has already been made in this area, according to Rana Sanaullah, and suggestions to foster harmony without lowering the provinces’ portion of the NFC (National Finance Commission) Award are being considered.

He stated that attempts will be made to gain the trust of all coalition parties and pertinent parties with reference to the 27th Amendment to the Constitution. According to him, the points of difference will be discussed for the future and only the amendment that everyone agrees on would proceed.

He added that other matters, including the local government system, the voting rights of Pakistanis living abroad, the transfer of judges, and the Election Commission’s jurisdiction, will also be decided through the amendment process.
