IHC designates this as a model case and directs FIA to create a JIT about the kidnapping of a woman and her daughters.

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has been instructed to establish a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) after the Islamabad High Court (IHC) voiced displeasure with police investigations into the suspected kidnapping of a woman and her young daughters from Lahore.

The woman and her children were wrongfully arrested in relation to a financial dispute involving former PIA CEO Musharraf Rasool, Waqas Ahmad, and Sohail Aleem, according to the written ruling issued by Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani.

The court ordered the FIA Director General to form a JIT to carry out an impartial inquiry after expressing dissatisfaction with the police’s handling of cases against Waqas Ahmad and Sohail Aleem that were filed in Islamabad.

The JIT was instructed by the IHC to look into every facet of the cases and assess the involvement of the police officers and investigative officers who were allegedly involved in the kidnapping and associated offenses.

The federal interior secretary was also directed by Justice Kayani to choose an officer with the title of Director (Crimes) and to turn the kidnapping of the woman and her three young children into a “model case.”

The woman, Sana, and her three small girls were kidnapped from Lahore without the city police being notified or involved, the court found. Additionally, it instructed the federal interior secretary to give the provincial government, Punjab IGP, and Punjab home secretary the required directives.

In light of CCTV footage purportedly showing the woman and her children being kidnapped in Lahore on September 17, 2025, the Punjab government has been directed to launch its own investigation.
