In the NA-66 Wazirabad by-election, Bilal Farooq Tarar was elected without opposition.

Bilal Farooq Tarar, the candidate of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), won the NA-66 Wazirabad by-election without facing any opposition.

His triumph has been formally announced by the returning officer.

Candidates from the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), and six independents were initially running in the constituency, which has 648,872 registered voters. However, all other candidates withdrew after the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) boycott and the ban on a religious party, leaving Bilal Farooq Tarar as the only candidate and securing the seat without a contest.

Congratulating Tarar, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif said that his uncontested victory demonstrated “the people’s unwavering trust in the leadership of PML-N.”

It is significant since PTI leader Ahmad Chattha’s disqualification prompted the holding of the by-election. Section 75(1) of the Elections Act of 2017 was cited in the ruling.
