Weak administration in the country leads to a rise in corruption: Miftah

On Thursday, former Federal Finance Minister Miftah Ismail stated that poor governance has led to a rise in corruption in the nation and that the entire system has to be altered.
According to Miftah Ismail, the IMF report made reference to 2019, the year when the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) held power. He said that sugar was exported with subsidies during the PTI administration.
He claimed that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) had voiced disapproval of the choice at the time. The PDM and PML-N governments did the similar thing in 2024. “The system needs to be changed,” he continued.
According to the former finance minister, sugar is being sold at an exorbitant price, with each kilogram costing an additional Rs 50 to Rs 60. He said that politicians own the majority of the nation’s sugar mills.
He claimed that no one discusses the impoverished during meetings. He claimed that the nation has poor governance and a high level of corruption.
Miftah Ismail was grateful that the government decided to give farmers fertilizer at a lower cost. He also praised the government’s efforts to prevent money laundering.
