Pakistan has annulled 45 LNG shipments from Qatar and Italy till 2027.

Pakistan has canceled the acquisition of 45 liquefied natural gas (LNG) cargoes from Qatar and Italy that were planned till 2027, officials verified.

Sources inside the Petroleum Division indicate that 24 LNG cargoes from Qatar, scheduled for import in 2026, have been annulled.

In January 2026, only one LNG cargo from Italy will arrive, a reduction from the anticipated 12, and 10 of the 12 cargoes slated for 2027 have also been annulled.

Officials confirmed that Pakistan possesses long-term LNG supply agreements with both Qatari and Italian firms.

The cancellations are revisions to these long-term agreements, and the process with the multinational corporations has been finalized.

Italy’s firm possesses a 15-year supply agreement with Pakistan LNG Limited, whereas Qatar’s LNG supply contract is associated with Pakistan State Oil (PSO).

According to these agreements, Pakistan typically imports 10 LNG cargoes monthly.

This measure demonstrates the government’s endeavor to meticulously regulate imports while fulfilling energy requirements in accordance with established long-term agreements.
