In Lahore and other parts of Punjab, heavy rain relieves the heat.

LAHORE: Heavy rain, strong winds and thunderstorms battered Lahore and various other parts of Punjab on Sunday, providing respite from days of scorching heat and humidity.

Several sections of Lahore including Mall Road, Abbott Road, Lakshmi Chowk, Canal Road, Gulberg, Liberty and Kalma Chowk continued to witness rain. Many residents welcomed the change in the weather, however power supply was affected in many regions.

Heavy thunderstorm also lashed Muridke and surrounding areas. The rain was a welcome reprieve to individuals who had suffered through hot and humid weather for several days. Before the rain started, several LESCO feeders tripped resulting in power supply problems in different places.

Kahna and adjoining localities also had heavy rain accompanied by chilly winds and thunderstorm. The weather turned lovely but electricity supply was halted in several regions soon after the rain started.

Strong breezes made the weather much better and light rainfall was reported from Gojra.

Intermittent rains have continued in Kasur city and adjoining areas since morning. The rain led to the tripping of several energy feeders, resulting in power supply disruption in parts of the city and neighboring areas.
