Wheat is being provided to flour mills for Rs 3,000 every 40 kg.

On Thursday, Punjab Food Director General Amjad Hafeez announced that wheat is being distributed to flour mills at a regulated price of Rs 3,000 per 40kg to guarantee a continuous supply of flour and maintain price stability in the province.

Official sources reported on Thursday that the Punjab government was supplying flour mills with 100% of the province’s daily wheat consumption requirement.

He stated, “The provision of wheat to flour mills at subsidised rates in Punjab has resulted in a substantial enhancement of the supply chain, ensuring that flour is abundantly available to consumers throughout all districts of the province.”

Amjad Hafeez additionally stated that a record 34,000 metric tonnes of wheat were processed by flour mills, resulting in the distribution of 1.4 million flour bags to the market. He stated, “The announced prices are Rs 905 for a 10 kg bag of flour and Rs 1,810 for a 20 kg bag of flour.”

The Director General announced that, according to the Punjab government’s established tariffs, 20,000 metric tonnes of wheat are being consistently distributed daily to 670 flour mills.

He stated that in instances of reported overcharging, price control magistrates enacted prompt and stringent measures.

Amjad Hafeez stated that the Food Safety and Consumer Protection Department’s campaign against hoarders, profiteers, and disseminators of false information is persistently active throughout the province, with all administrative and field resources being employed to guarantee the continuing supply of flour.

The Punjab government would acquire 3 million metric tonnes of wheat from the private sector at a price of Rs 3,500 per 40 kg (one maund). The deadline for private sector pre-qualification applications is February 12, 2026.
