Food security projects worth Rs16.94 billion are approved by the NA committee.

For the next fiscal year, the Ministry of National Food Security has been given approval for 13 development projects totaling over Rs16.94 billion by the National Assembly Standing Committee on National Food Security.
Before approving the financial requests, the committee, which was chaired by Syed Hussain Tariq, was given a thorough briefing by ministry representatives. One of the initiatives that has been approved is Thar CMEL, a Rs280 million project that aims to safeguard and improve livestock in the Thar region.
A recent miscommunication in a Senate committee meeting, where the Thar CMEL project was allegedly misidentified as a camel-related endeavor, also caused astonishment among committee members during the discussion. Members observed that following a quick discussion in the upper chamber, it became evident that the initiative was a community-based livestock enhancement program rather than a camel project.
The authorized initiatives, officials stressed, are intended to promote livestock development and improve food security throughout Pakistan.
