A fight breaks out during a Karachi City Council meeting.

Members of the Karachi City Council engaged in a physical altercation at a meeting on Friday.

Sources claim that during Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) member Najmi Alam’s address, Jamaat-e-Islami members chanted the slogans “Give water to Karachi” and “Give rights to Karachi.” The PPP members responded by chanting the phrase “Jeay Bhutto.”

According to sources, there was a physical argument and punching between members of the Pakistan People’s Party and Jamaat-e-Islami.

In a press conference, Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab stated that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has likewise rejected Jamaat-e-Islami’s strategy and denounced their actions. Noting that they had been in power for twelve years, he continued, “Such double standards cannot continue.”

He added that they react negatively to Najmi Alam’s remarks because he revealed their hypocrisy.
