Agricultural tax notifications are suspended by the speaker of the Punjab Assembly.

Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan, the Speaker of the Punjab Assembly, has issued an executive order declaring a notification pertaining to agricultural tax collection unlawful and suspending it.
The speaker of the Punjab legislature declared during a session that the legislature alone has the power to impose taxes; government officials are not permitted to do so.
He argued that no executive body, including the Board of Revenue, has the legal jurisdiction to impose any kind of tax, and that the assembly’s rights are compromised by such a notification.
Malik Ahmad Khan gave the legal committee a 15-day deadline to report to the assembly and instructed the standing committee on law to examine taxes levied by executive bodies.
Members of the legislature from the opposition and treasury benches praised the speaker’s action after the ruling.
