Cambodia consents to deport 54 Pakistani nationals following a crackdown on a fraud operation.

On Tuesday, the country’s Foreign Office confirmed that Cambodian authorities have consented to the expedited repatriation of 54 Pakistani citizens detained after a raid on a suspected scam facility, providing relief amid concerns regarding the conditions of those in jail.

The problem arises from allegations indicating that over 200 Pakistanis are detained by Cambodian authorities in overcrowded facilities, with restricted access to essential amenities. The situation alarmed officials and necessitated immediate diplomatic intervention.

The Foreign Office stated that Pakistan’s ambassador in Cambodia diligently engaged with the host government regarding the issue. The action was directed by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, who mandated officials to implement all necessary measures to assist Pakistani nationals overseas.

Consequently, Cambodian authorities consented to expedite the repatriation of 54 detainees apprehended in Siem Reap province during a raid on a fraudulent operation. Officials announced that preparations are currently being made for their departure, with the individuals anticipated to exit Cambodia once flight arrangements are confirmed.
