The PPP Labour Bureau requires bank wages and worker registration.

Chaudhry Manzoor Ahmad, the president of the PPP Labour Bureau, asked that all employees register with NADRA right away and that salaries be paid via bank accounts in order to maintain transparency.

Speaking at a Labour Day lecture hosted by PPP Lahore, he vehemently denounced privatisation, referring to it as “open plunder,” and pledged that labour unions will continue to oppose it.

PPP Lahore President Nargis Khan, Mazdoor Forum President Mah Gul Abbas, PPP Lahore General Secretary Dr. Ayesha Shaukat, and Organising Committee Convener Majeed Ghauri all spoke during the event.

Ahmad said that just 2.2 million workers in Punjab were enrolled under Social Security, despite a considerably larger workforce, and raised concern about the agriculture sector, claiming it was being weakened to create cheap labour.

Honouring previous Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Shaheed, he highlighted worker empowerment initiatives and said that past labour laws had extended rights to workers in the unorganised sector.
