Hafiz Naeem requests scrapping of IPPs contracts

Jamaat-e-Islami (Ji) emir Hafiz Naeemur Rehman has urged immediate termination of contracts of Independent Power Producers (IPPs).
Hafiz Naeemur Rehman, addressing a JI membership ceremony here on Saturday, said Rs153 was being collected as taxes on one litre fuel and the treasury was being plundered in the guise of capacity payments.
He claimed JI was talking about change of system, the charge, not subsidy of Rs100 on petrol should be eliminated. “We do not want to beg for subsidies, the contracts of IPPs should be terminated forthwith,” he added.
JI chief claimed the price of petrol and electricity may be cut. He said JI is the voice of the ordinary man and the collaboration of the feudal lords and the peasants have not provided the country anything.
The system needs to reform, former government could not deliver anything to Pakistan, agreements should be undertaken with traders on the timeline of markets, Hafiz Naeem.

The government is pushing the responsibility on people. The JI chief stated they reject the illegal policy of solar, would announce a strategy of action after Eid. We will come out alongside people around the country against IPPs and wheat mafia.
