PMD warns rain, thunderstorms in several parts of country

The Met Office of Pakistan has predicted rain with thunderstorms and potential hailstorms in several parts of the country.

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued a warning stating that several areas would witness heavy rainfall, high gusts and isolated hailstorm.

Punjab will have heavy rain with strong winds and thunder. Rain is likely to occur in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, Attock, Chakwal, Talagang, Gujar Khan, Jhelum and Sialkot.

Other cities including Narowal, Layyah, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Mandi Bahauddin, Lahore, Faisalabad and Sahiwal are all expected to face thunderstorms with heavy gusts.

Rain is likely to occur in Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir including Gilgit, Skardu, Hunza, Nagar, Ghizer, Diamer, Astore, Ghanche, Shigar, Kharmang, Muzaffarabad, Neelum Valley, Bagh, Haveli, Poonch, Rawalakot, Kotli, Mirpur and Bhimber in northern parts.

Likewise, rain with thundershowers is also predicted in Abbottabad, Dera Ismail Khan, Bannu, Malam Jabba, Dir and other regions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Citizens have been advised by the authorities to take preventive steps, given the forecasted weather conditions.
