PM directs promotion of renewable energy initiatives

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has urged to develop the renewable energy projects to alleviate the electricity constraint in the country.

LAHORE: Chairman, conference on power sector reforms here on Saturday stressed the promotion of contemporary technology in the energy sector.

Prime minister directed to take initiatives for facilitating industrial and home electricity consumers.

He remarked that constant supply of electricity should be assured for promotion of industrial development.

Shehbaz Sharif added that provision of facilities to domestic consumers was one of the main goals of the administration.

The prime minister also directed to improve the system of transmission of electricity to cut line losses substantially.

Shehbaz Sharif has mandated to design a comprehensive strategy for the stabilisation of electricity rates.

He urged on promoting digital services to facilitate the consumers in paying the bills.

The prime minister ordered to continue tough steps to combat electricity theft.

He stated the reforms in the energy sector will not be done without bearing in mind the larger interests of the public and industry.

The meeting also made suggestions to the prime minister on electricity consumption for residential users and industries.
