Over 7,000 police, snipers deployed for PSL final in Lahore

The final of the Pakistan Super League is being played today at Gaddafi Stadium. Lahore police have made comprehensive security arrangements to keep the event safe and smooth. The report says that over seven thousand police officers and personnel have been deployed for security duties in and around the stadium.

The operation will also see the deployment of Dolphin Squad units, Police Response Units and Elite Force teams who will carry out patrols along critical routes and surrounding the site.

Security forces have also conducted out search, sweep and combing operations in and around the players’ houses, travel routes and stadium.

Intelligence based actions were launched to eradicate any possible dangers ahead of the high-profile game.

The officials have acknowledged that CCTV surveillance systems are monitoring all team movements, lodging sites and the stadium premises.

Under the multi-layered security arrangement, snipers have also been deployed on surrounding high rise buildings.

Spectator access rules have been tightened with people having to go through three different security checks before being allowed in the stadium.

The step was aimed at ensuring comprehensive vetting and safety of the audience, authorities added.

The Lahore police further said that all roads leading to the stadium have been cordoned off with barbed wire and barricades to restrict entry to those not authorised and to ensure a security perimeter around the site.
