Committee considers the One Constitution Avenue matter and requests information from CDA

Monday was the first meeting of the committee that the Prime Minister appointed to examine the One Constitution Avenue issue.

Minister of State for the Interior Talal Chaudhry was present at the meeting, which was presided over by Federal Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar. The committee asked the Chairman of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) for information regarding One Constitution Avenue.

CDA Chairman Sohail Ashraf and Member Estate Zaman Wattoo reportedly attended the committee’s inaugural meeting. The committee was given information about One Constitution Avenue by the CDA Chairman.

On Tuesday, the committee asked the CDA to provide another briefing on the subject. Speaking to attendees, Azam Nazeer Tarar stated that those impacted by One Constitution Avenue will also be heard through their representatives following the CDA’s briefing.

Before submitting its recommendation to the Prime Minister, he continued, the committee will examine all technical and legal concerns. He stated that the committee is aware of the Islamabad High Court’s written ruling.

As committee members, the Secretary of Commerce and the Secretary of the Cabinet Division also attended the meeting. The committee stated that it was determined to finish its report as quickly as possible.
