To improve judicial efficiency, the Supreme Court announces a summer vacation timetable.

The Supreme Court of Pakistan has released its Summer Vacation Schedule for 2026, saying the schedule has been developed to boost judicial performance, enhance institutional efficiency and ensure prompt disposal of pending cases.

The move underscores the Supreme Court’s determination to provide prompt and effective justice while maximising its institutional capacity over the summer holiday, a news release issued by the court said.

The court noted that the judges of the Supreme Court had, on the request of the Chief Justice of Pakistan and after mutual talks, voluntarily agreed to maximise the sitting hours at the principal seat in Islamabad during the summer vacations.

In a break from previous practice the judges have also agreed to limit, when appropriate, the time of sittings at branch registries. But the actual vacation duration that the judges will take will not alter from four weeks, as it was in the previous years.

The new structure is intended to ensure improved availability of the courts throughout the summer holiday and uninterrupted hearing and disposition of matters.

The Supreme Court said the decision shows the judges’ shared commitment to optimally using judicial resources, enhancing court performance and giving litigants across the country access to speedy justice.
