Kazakhstan and Pakistan promise to strengthen their business and economic relations.

Pakistan and Kazakhstan re-affirmed their resolve to boost bilateral trade and investment ties, with the two sides committing to expand collaboration in a number of vital industries.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar met Kazakhstan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Yermek Kosherbayev on the sidelines of Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) conference in Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyzstan.

The two ministers discussed the strong momentum in bilateral relations after the visit of Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to Pakistan. They also reaffirmed their commitment to executing the understandings achieved during the visit, including 37 memorandums of understanding (MoUs).

The two parties agreed to further strengthen cooperation in trade, investment, transport, regional connectivity, energy, people-to-people relations and multilateral platforms during the conference.

Kosherbayev commended Pakistan’s efforts for peace and diplomacy in the area and highlighted his country’s wish to further enhance bilateral relations.

The two ministers also discussed regional and global issues and emphasised their shared commitment to fostering peace, stability and prosperity.

Foreign Office said Kosherbayev had asked Dar to visit Kazakhstan.

Dar Meets Belarus Counterpart

Separately, Ishaq Dar held discussion with Belarusian foreign minister Maxim Ryzhenkov on sidelines of SCO gathering.

The two sides exchanged views on bilateral relations and reiterated their commitment to expanding cooperation in all spheres. They exchanged views on how to expand economic and commercial relations, along with collaboration in defence, agriculture, technology and the exchange of talented workers.

The ministers also extended their best wishes for the forthcoming Pakistan-Belarus Joint Ministerial Commission, to be held in Islamabad on August 11 and 12, 2026.

The two sides also reiterated their commitment to execute the Comprehensive Cooperation Roadmap for 2025-2027, the Foreign Office said.

Ryzhenkov welcomed Pakistan’s helpful role in encouraging communication between the United States and Iran and hailed Islamabad’s ongoing efforts to promote peace and security in the region.
