US, Pakistan re-affirm commitment to fight terrorism

The United States and Pakistan held the Fourth US-Pakistan Counterterrorism Dialogue in Washington DC, led by the US Coordinator for Counterterrorism Ambassador Gregory LoGerfo and Pakistan’s Special Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ambassador Nabeel Munir.

The meeting highlighted common interests in the US-Pakistan counterterrorism relationship and the two countries’ resolve to address terrorism.

Delegations exchanged perspectives on the present threat environment, reviewed ways to improve coordination and addressed measures to boost border security and destroy terrorist facilitation networks.

The United States and Pakistan reiterated their common dedication to fighting terrorist groups that threaten the safety of their citizens and the stability of the region, including ISIS-Khorasan (ISIS-K), al-Qa’ida (AQ), the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), and the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) and its affiliates.

The two governments vowed to continue cooperation on counter-terrorism to ensure the safety and security of their nations and as part of a long-term goal of regional peace, prosperity and stability.
