Entire country observes Chehlum processions calmly
Chehlum processions of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and the martyrs of Karbala were passed off peacefully across the country on Tuesday.
Devotees paid homage to symbolic representations of Zuljanah, alams and taboots. Distributions of food and drinks were also made as offerings (Nazr-o-Niyaz), while special arrangements were made for female mourners, including setting up water stalls (sabeels).
PROCESSION IN PUNJAB
Punjab IG Abdul Karim has said that the situation remained peaceful throughout Punjab, including the provincial capital, on the Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA), and no untoward incident occurred anywhere.
Abdul Karim commended the police force for the excellent security arrangements for Chehlum Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and said that the police force provided foolproof security to 730 gatherings and 420 mourning processions during Chehlum Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA).
IG Punjab appreciated the performance of all RPOs and DPOs across the province, including CCPO Lahore, and traffic police officers, and said that Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, provincial ministers, advisors, and regional representatives provided excellent guidance to the Punjab Police in security arrangements.
He said that all operational units of Punjab Police, including Special Branch, CTD, deserve praise for their dedicated performance of their duties. The Punjab Police received the cooperation of the Pakistan Army and Ranges in ensuring the security of Chehlum Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA).
IG Punjab Abdul Karim further said that he is grateful for the full cooperation of citizens, scholars of different schools of thought, security agencies, and the media.
KARACHI PROCESSIONS
Police said main procession had entered Hussainia Irania Imambargah and concluded peacefully. Earlier, the Traffic Police finalised a special traffic plan for the Chehlum procession of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA).
The main procession began at 9am from Nishtar Park and, after passing through its designated routes, culminated at Imambargah Hussainia Iranian in Kharadar.
The Traffic Police also outlined alternative routes for commuters. In District Central, traffic coming from Nazimabad was diverted from Lasbela Chowk towards Nishtar Road via Garden. Vehicles from Liaquatabad were routed from Teen Hatti to Lasbela Chowk and then towards Central Jail (Martin Road).
Police devised a comprehensive security plan for the peaceful conduct of the Chehlum procession and related gatherings. A total of 4,994 police officers and personnel were deployed for security duties, along with 139 police vehicles at various locations.
The Chehlum of Imam Hussain (RA) and the concluding ceremonies of the Urs of Data Ali Hajveri, widely known as Data Ganj Bakhsh (RA), were observed across Punjab under extensive security arrangements.
The main procession reached Pani Wala Talab and will reach Karbala Gamay Shah via Bhatti Gate. There were a large number of mourners present outside Karbala Gamay Shah with thousands of mourners present inside Karbala Gamay Shah.
CHEHLUM PROCESSION IN PINDI
The central mourning procession, which started from Imam Bargah Ashiq Hussain Teli Mohalla, passed off peacefully on Jamia Masjid Road via Fawara Chowk, Raja Bazaar, Purana, Qila Chowk.
