Gandapur walks out of party meeting after dispute with barrister Gohar

Reportedly, differences were witnessed between Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders Faisal Amin Gandapur and Barrister Gohar at a seven-hour-long joint parliamentary party meeting on subjecting parliamentary committee decisions to the approval of the opposition leader.

Sources said that Barrister Gohar had said that the PTI founder has accorded all powers to the opposition leader and the final announcement would require his permission.

Faisal Amin Gandapur opposed the viewpoint, reportedly asking why decisions were being taken at the behest of Mahmood Khan Achakzai and Allama Nasir when they were not even in the meeting.

Gandapur later walked out of the parliamentary committee meeting, insulting the opposition leader, sources added. He also directed members to return to their respective standing committees.

However, Barrister Gohar said the parliamentary committee did not have the power to decide on returning to the standing committees.

He further said the PTI founder will not be a part of such a plot.

“Some other members allegedly said that they would resign from the standing committees again if the PTI founder raised objections to their return.

The conference lasted seven hours but conclusions were conditional, sources said, reflecting disagreement within the party on how to approve the procedure and the next steps in parliament.
