Afghanistan calls the peace negotiations between China and Pakistan “useful.”

Afghanistan claims that peace negotiations with Pakistan, which are taking place in China, have been “helpful.”

The foreign ministry in Kabul made the statement during negotiations that were initiated last week in response to an invitation from China with the goal of ending cross-border conflict between the two neighbours.

Beijing, which is sensitive to the violence near its western regions, is troubled by the conflict that started in February and has resulted in hundreds of deaths. The peace process in the western Chinese city of Urumqi is an attempt to put an end to this conflict.

Pakistan has launched airstrikes within Afghanistan, including in Kabul, the country’s capital, after declaring it to be in “open war” with its neighbour.

Overall, 94,000 people have been displaced by the conflict, according to a Tuesday post on X by the United Nations’ Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs in Afghanistan. Since February, fighting has shut off 100,000 people in two Afghan districts close to the border.

The international world is concerned about the violence since other armed groups, like as al-Qaeda and the ISIL (ISIS) group, are still active in the region.

Since the talks between mid-level delegates from both sides started on April 1, there have been few formal remarks about them.
