AJK police head refuses to talk to anti-state violent elements

— Inspector General Police Azad Jammu and Kashmir Liaquat Ali Malik has ruled out any conversations with anti-state violent elements stating there is no room for tolerance for those involved in killing police officials and desecrating their bodies.

The police head rejected calls for discussions with anti-state groups, saying it was unthinkable that anyone would sit across the table from individuals who had killed their brothers-in-arms. “It is not the role of the police to pursue political solutions. It is the responsibility of political leaders,” he said.

“Besides attacking ordinary citizens, violent elements have threatened to behead security personnel and target law enforcement officials,” Malik said.

“There is no place for any political settlement with people who do such acts,” he remarked, referring to an incident in which a civilian going to his mother’s burial was allegedly abducted and had his legs shattered. The IGP said the state will act with full force against those who harm innocent persons.
