An injury to Fakhar Zaman occurs during the intense Kings-Qalandars match.

During Lahore Qalandars’ away Pakistan Super League (PSL) 9 match against archrivals Karachi Kings at National Bank Stadium on Saturday, left-handed opener Fakhar Zaman sustained a hand injury.

The tough-hitting batsman was hurt during the last over of the thrilling run chase when he bravely lunged forward in the deep to attempt to capture Kings all-rounder Anwar Ali.

Nevertheless, Zaman was unable to get beneath the ball, causing it to ricochet off the surface and land in his hand.

Then, when Shaheen Shah Afridi, the captain of the Qalandars, was having a lengthy conversation with the on-field umpire over the TV Umpire’s ruling, he was observed favoring his hand.

Sahibzada Farhan, the Qalandars’ in-form opener, took his position in the starting lineup.

Shaheen Afridi confirmed Fakhar Zaman’s absence while reflecting on his team’s miserable PSL 9 season in his speech at the toss.

“As a team, we fought in every game, and the last six or seven were quite tight. Result-wise, it’s very challenging. Sadly, Fakhar suffered a fracture to his finger after two changes, Shaheen Afridi announced after the toss.

It is important to note that the Quetta Gladiators need to win one of their next two games to guarantee a berth in the final four, while the two-time champions and current holders, Lahore Qalandars, have already eliminated themselves from the playoff chase.
