Babar Azam, Fakhar Zaman among stars in ILT20 season 5 auction

The list of players for the DP World International League T20 (ILT20) Season 5 auction has been announced and Babar Azam, Fakhar Zaman of Pakistan are a part of it along with a number of internationally recognized cricketers.

The auction will be held on October 1 at the ICC Academy in Dubai and around 200 cricketers from 23 countries are expected to take part.

Players will be grouped into three base-price groups — $80,000, $40,000 and $10,000.

In the costliest group, there is Babar Azam, Phil Salt, Tom Banton, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Wanindu Hasaranga, Faf Du Plessis, Liam Livingstone, Alzarri Joseph, Fakhar Zaman, Naseem Shah, Moeen Ali, Jonny Bairstow, Alex Hales and Chris Woakes.

Some of the prominent names in the $40,000 bracket are Shadab Khan, Ibrahim Zadran, Jayden Seales, Tabraiz Shamsi, Sharaf Islam, Kusal Perera and Gulbadin Naib.

Reeza Hendricks, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, George Munsey, Ish Sodhi and Matthew Potts are in the $10,000 bracket.

Players from UAE, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia will enter the auction at a base price of $10,000.

Each franchise will also receive a right-to-match for one ex-UAE player. Teams will have to name squads comprising a minimum of 18 players and a maximum of 23.

Every match’s playing XI will comprise a minimum of two UAE players, two Afghan players and one player from another associate nation.

Each franchise has been assigned a unique auction purse and MI Emirates will go into the sale with the most budget.
