Capt Safdar proposes referendum on creating new provinces

• Retired captain, PML-N leader Safdar has remarked that new provinces should be created and that the Hazara province should be created with the choice of the Hazara people.

A public referendum is needed. Their votes are secured by twisting their arms in assemblies,” he added. Captain (retd) Safdar was talking to media here on Monday.

The PML-N chief said the political leadership should have a say in the decisions of the provinces.

We are in favor of provinces, but the people will select the borders. This is just my opinion. ‘PML-N’s viewpoint should be known to Atta Tarar, Pervez Rashid, Khawaja Asif and Khawaja Saad Rafique’, he said.

Earlier, Defense Minister Khawaja Asif stated that creation of additional provinces or administrative units is a national problem and no quarter should oppose it, adding that such a system might improve both federation and provinces.

Asif told media at the Parliament House on Monday that he had no knowledge of any particular plan relating to new administrative entities.
