CJCSC Gen. Mirza travels to Brunei to deepen defence cooperation.

During an official visit to Brunei on Thursday, General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC), met at high levels with the Sultan and other high-ranking officials.

Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Retired) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Brunei’s minister at the PM’s office and minister of defense-II, as well as Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Muhammad Haszaimi bin Bol Hassan, commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces, met Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

Both parties reiterated friendly relations and the intention to further strengthen bilateral defence cooperation during the talks, which centred on the changing regional and global security landscape.

The CJCSC gave a discussion on “Pakistan’s contributions to regional peace and stability” while touring the KDB Darulaman at Muara Naval Base and the Royal Brunei Armed Forces’ Defence Academy. He engaged with officers from 19 different nations as well as students in the command and staff course.

According to the ISPR statement, the sultan and civil-military leadership of Brunei valued Pakistan’s armed services’ excellent professional standards and their role in combating terrorism. General Shamshad was greeted by a Guard of Honour upon his arrival at the Royal Brunei Armed Forces headquarters.

The visit to Brunei comes after the CJCSC recently visited Bangladesh, where he met with senior military authorities, Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus, and Chief of Army Staff General Waker-Uz-Zaman. The sessions highlighted the expanding defence collaboration between Bangladesh and Pakistan.
