Deadline passes for unlawful Afghan citizens to be acted against

After the expiry of the deadline, a new phase of action against unauthorised Afghan citizens has commenced.
Centre steps up action against unauthorised Afghan nationals
Authorities will now arrest, deport and take strong action against anybody helping illegal residents. The federal government has decided to accelerate actions against Afghan nationals living in Pakistan without legal documents when the given term expires.
Sources said every Afghan national staying in Pakistan without a visa will be arrested immediately and expelled. Legal action will also be taken against anyone who give shelter or rented lodging to unlawful Afghan residents.
Geo-fencing process completed for Afghan citizens
The geo-tagging and geo-fencing process of Afghan citizens in Punjab, including Rawalpindi has been finished. This data has been used to direct deputy commissioners to expedite arrests.
Sources said the Ministry of Interior will be receiving daily reports about the operations. The reports will include the number of Afghan citizens detained without visas, the type of actions being taken and the current status of those in custody.
The Ministry of Interior had also written a letter to Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Kashmir and all provinces on June 28 concerning the problem.
