Diwan Ali Chughtai, the AJK Education Minister, joins the PPP

Diwan Ali Chughtai, the Minister of Education for Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), has announced his intention to join the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), providing the party with a significant boost in advance of the motion of no-confidence against Prime Minister Anwarul Haq.

A former ally of the existing AJK administration, Chughtai formally broke with the ruling alliance and offered his support to the PPP. As opposition parties step up their efforts to remove the AJK Prime Minister, his choice represents yet another significant change in the quickly changing political scene.

Following a meeting between Chughtai and Faryal Talpur, the PPP leader and head of political affairs, the statement was made. He formally announced his party membership during the meeting. Sardar Ahmed Sagheer, Zia-ul-Qamar, and Chaudhry Muhammad Riaz were among the senior PPP leaders that attended the event.

Chughtai’s inclusion has given the PPP another vote in favour of the no-confidence motion, bolstering the opposition’s position as the AJK political struggle moves into a pivotal stage.

Diwan Ali Khan Chughtai’s arrival to the PPP has been warmly welcomed by its leaders, who claim that his background and public service will further the party’s goals.

As parties continue to forge coalitions in front of the pivotal vote, the development is anticipated to further exacerbate political manoeuvring in Muzaffarabad.
