Following the Pahalgam tragedy, Indian media was accused of using war rhetoric.

In the wake of the Pahalgam disaster, Indian media have come under fire for allegedly abandoning professional journalism standards and serving as the Modi government’s war mouthpiece.

Through its broadcasts, Indian media persisted in inciting war panic and deceiving the audience with unreliable information. Republic TV presenter Arnab Goswami was seen pushing the government into war and making divisive statements against Pakistan following the Pahalgam incident.

Following the incident, Indian media is accused of continuing a campaign that increased tensions between two nuclear-armed governments while ignoring the reality on the ground. A number of anchors amplified aggressive themes and contributed to regional instability by transforming their studios into command centers akin to those of a war.

Some Indian media outlets were criticised for their careless hyperbole when they threatened to conduct missile attacks and set Karachi Port on fire. According to observers, making accusations without supporting documentation has jeopardised their professional integrity and reputation on a global scale.

Indian media persisted in promoting stories about retaliation and war readiness after the Pahalgam incident. Tensions were further heightened when so-called defence analysts, such as retired General G. D. Bakshi, were observed endorsing belligerent postures on television.
