Gujranwala bride murder: Prime suspect killed in alleged police encounter

  • The main suspect in the assassination of a bride on the day of her wedding celebration was killed in an alleged police encounter in Gujranwala district of Punjab.

Sources said the man, named as Sarfraz, had been hiding in another region with his aides. The Crime Control Department (CCD) had just picked up the suspects when their associates opened fire on the officers.

Sarfraz was reportedly murdered in firing by his own accomplices during the exchange of fire.

The perpetrators were changing their positions regularly and were captured yesterday nite, sources claimed. His woman accomplice Arooba and others accused are currently in detention.

Sarfraz allegedly shot the bride, Saba, dead while she was riding in a car home after her wedding reception a few days ago.

The Gujranwala CCD said the man shot Saba when she rejected his marriage proposal.

A case was registered at CCD police station on the complaint of victim’s father. Sarfraz had fled the area after the murders and gone into hiding in a remote locale.
