“Illegal” appointments in the NA secretariat are noted by NAB.

Requesting information on appointments made while Asad Qaiser and Raja Pervaiz Ashraf were speakers of the lower house of parliament, the NAB wrote a letter to the NA secretariat.

In response to questions regarding the appointment criteria from 2018 to March 2024, the graft-buster body has requested input.

According to the sources, the NAB has also requested information from the finance ministry on approval for appointments and job ads in newspapers.

It is said that during his stint at the Parliament Secretariat, former National Assembly speaker Asad Qaiser broke procedures by recruiting and promoting staff members.

Approximately 200 employees in the Secretariat who were from the former NA Speaker’s constituency were hired and promoted, according to the sources.

Tahir Qadeem, his brother-in-law, was on deputation to Islamabad after Asad Qaiser secured his temporary appointment as a Grade-17 official in the KP Assembly. The sources claimed that thereafter, he gave his brother-in-law a permanent position in the National Assembly.
