In Punjab, “Sahulat on the Go Bazaars” turns street vendors into store owners.

The first-ever “Sahulat on the Go bazaars” in Punjab have swiftly gained widespread notice by giving residents access to reasonably priced, superior products and respectable job prospects for street vendors.

An open lottery method was used to assign more than 400 stalls to vendors under the instruction of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.

Ten places in Lahore, including Gulshan Ravi, Shadman, Motherland Market, Madina Market, Township, Sunder Road, and Kotah Pind in Faisal Town, have opened the first phase of these bazaars. There are now more bazaars operating in Shahdara, Valencia, Awan Town, and Khadak Nala.

These markets sell groceries, fruits, vegetables, and poultry at prices set by the government. In addition to having strong security, hygienic and lavatory systems, the bazaars also offer drive-through shopping. Five more bazaars in Lahore—Barkhi, Saddar, Nashtar Town, Raiwind Phase II, Faisal Town, Moon Market, and Ferozwala—will be open by February.

Vendors thanked the chief minister, praising the respectable and well-organised system and stating that they now feel like real store owners instead of street vendors.

The bazaars, according to CM Maryam, are a reflection of the ideal of a tidy and attractive Lahore, guaranteeing that even the working poor benefit from genuine development. She also said that the project will lessen the need for subsidies that were previously provided during Ramadan markets, and she praised the Punjab Sahulat Bazaar Authority for their efforts.
