Iranian envoy: Islamabad talks set the stage for a long-term diplomatic framework

Reza Amiri Moghadam, Iran’s ambassador to Pakistan, stated on Sunday that a long-term diplomatic framework had been established by the Islamabad Talks.
Reza Amiri Moghadam stated on social media site X that the Islamabad Talks are a continuous process rather than merely an event. He thanked Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for their goodwill effort.
The conversations were made possible by the persistent efforts of the Pakistani government, army, police, and security forces, he continued, adding that Pakistani institutions put in endless effort to ensure the Islamabad Talks were organized.
He stated, “Talks were held in a calm, orderly, secure environment with equal logistical opportunities for both sides in a dignified and befitting atmosphere for the guests.”
After lengthy negotiations in Islamabad on Sunday, Iran and the US were unable to come to an agreement, and US Vice President JD Vance admitted this.
Following the conclusion of the unsuccessful rounds of negotiations, the US delegation departed Islamabad. Vance spoke during a press conference prior to its departure.
He stated that Iran will not pledge not to pursue nuclear weapons.
Vance claimed to have arrived “in good faith,” but he also stated that the US required a “fundamental commitment of will” from Iran to refrain from developing nuclear weapons.
