Iran’s foreign minister insists Lebanon not a chip in fight

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has criticised Lebanese President Joseph Aoun’s comments that Lebanon was a bargaining chip for Tehran.

Earlier Aoun claimed Iran was using Lebanon as a bargaining chip in its talks with the United States and that the Lebanese were paying the price for Iran’s interests.

“If Lebanon was a bargaining chip for Iran we would have had a deal long ago,” Araghchi wrote on X. “Save Lebanon from your true enemy, Mr President.
