ISPR DG warns Afghan Taliban against supporting militancy in Pakistan

Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry has warned the Afghan Taliban regime of significant consequences if it does not stop supporting terrorism in Pakistan.
In an interview with international media, Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry stated India was the main sponsor of terrorism in Pakistan and the Afghan Taliban administration was acting as an Indian proxy.
He said that terrorist organisations like Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) were Indian proxies against Pakistan, while Afghan Taliban were utilising non-state actors and mercenaries to further their objectives.
Afghanistan is still in the orbit of non-state actors, and with Russia’s participation in the country a number of intelligence organisations and proxy groups have taken root there,” said the military spokesperson.
He also highlighted to the presence of foreign terrorist organisations including Jaish al-Adl, Al-Qaeda and Islamic State Khorasan Province (ISKP) in Afghanistan.
Lt Gen Chaudhry said Pakistan’s only condition was that the Afghan Taliban quit assisting militants operating within the country.
He said that the regime was providing asylum to TTP commander Noor Wali Mehsud, Bashir Zeb and Gul Bahadur and terrorist formations and weapons were being supplied from Afghan territory.
“If the concerns of Islamabad are not addressed, it will have serious consequences,” he said.
The DG ISPR also appealed to the international community to exert pressure on the Afghan Taliban to act as a responsible state and stop narcotics cultivation and manufacturing and to resolve security issues.
The Pakistan’s military forces were completely capable to tackle all the threats from Afghanistan including the drone attacks, he said.
