Karachi officials have been suspended following the death of an individual due to a manhole incident.

In Gulshan-e-Iqbal, multiple authorities were suspended subsequent to the unfortunate demise of a youngster who fell into an uncovered sewer.

The suspended officials comprise top personnel from the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC), District Municipal Corporation (DMC), Karachi Water & Sewerage Board (KWSB), and the Assistant Commissioner of Gulshan-e-Iqbal.

The Sindh Local Government Department issued suspension letters pursuant to directives from Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah. The individuals suspended include Imran Rajput (Senior Director of Municipal Services, KMC), Rashid Fayyaz (Assistant Engineer, Town Municipal Corporation), Waqar Ahmed (Executive Engineer, KWSB), Amir Ali Shah (Assistant Commissioner), and Salman Farsi (Mukhtiyar Kar, Gulshan-e-Iqbal).

A committee established by Karachi Police Chief Javed Alam Odho includes SSP East DIG Admin Ahmed Nawaz Cheema and SSP Investigation Central Anum Tajammul.

The police announced that the committee will ascertain accountability for the occurrence and present its conclusions to the Karachi Police Chief upon the inquiry’s conclusion.

In the course of the investigation, the Senior Superintendent of Police from the Central Division visited the residence of the deceased kid. A police team convened with the bereaved family and commenced documenting their testimonies.

The Red Line BRT administration has elucidated its stance concerning the event at Nipa. The BRT manager asserted that no construction or excavation activities were occurring near the accident site, which is considerably far from the Red Line project. The road construction is finalized and maintained, whereas sewer and drainage tasks do not pertain to BRT jurisdiction. The management stated that associating the incident with the BRT project is a significant misinterpretation.
