MQM for devolution of powers to grass roots to solve public concerns

MQM Chief Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui said that devolution of powers to grass root level is vital to resolve challenges faced by the people.

The people of Karachi would turn out in large numbers for the public referendum and do their bit for bringing about change, Siddiqui said in a statement published here on Saturday.

They are not slaves, ‘we have to take actual efforts to influence the fate of the nation’ he remarked. “I want the fruits of democracy to reach the doorsteps of ordinary Pakistanis and will continue to advocate transfer of power to the grassroots,” he said.

Meanwhile, MQM chairman Farooq Sattar claimed that development of new administrative entities in the country has become unavoidable. He said six administrative units will be created and accused that Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) will not let people of Larkana, Sukkur, Nawabshah and Karachi to exercise control on construction of administrative units.

Sattar also criticized the governance of Sindh stating the province was having significant administrative challenges.

He claimed degradation in governance had necessitated transfer of powers. “People were looking for empowered local government system.
