New routes for Rawalpindi electric buses have been announced.

45 environmentally friendly Buses were distributed along four main routes in Rawalpindi on Wednesday, marking the city’s first electric bus service.

A significant turning point in Rawalpindi’s urban mobility program is the inauguration, which is anticipated to be presided over by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.

The project, which is a part of Punjab’s larger push for sustainable transit, comes as air quality is declining and traffic congestion is increasing.

Raja Bazaar to Koral Chowk, Saddar to Adiala Road and Munawar Colony, Saddar to Qabristan Chowk, and Marrir Chowk to 26 Number Chungi are some of the major high-traffic areas that now have new electric pathways.

“Rawalpindi is moving toward a cleaner and quieter transport future, with a system built to accommodate thousands of passengers daily,” a project official stated, adding that switching to electric buses would cut emissions and lessen dependency on petroleum.

In addition to touring the Kacheri Chowk building site, the chief minister is anticipated to receive a thorough briefing on the ongoing development projects following the inauguration. The officials added that Maryam Nawaz was expected to attend between 1:30 and 2:00 pm, and that Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb might inaugurate the service if necessary.

The goal of the electric bus effort was to reduce pollution in one of Punjab’s busiest cities while giving locals access to more dependable transportation. It represents a significant milestone in the province’s direction toward sustainable urban mobility.
