PM Chairs NDMA Meeting: Requests Stormy Rain Report

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has requested an urgent report on the recent heavy rainfall after distributing relief materials to the affected individuals.

During the meeting of the National Disaster Management Authority, the Prime Minister instructed officials from the NDMA to conduct a joint survey in cooperation with the provinces. The purpose of this survey is to ensure that relief is only provided to those who have been affected by the disaster.

The Prime Minister also instructed the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) to enhance future collaboration with provinces in relation to natural disasters.

The Prime Minister has been instructed to produce a report on the implementation of the directives provided to NDMA to enhance its technical competence during his previous term.

The Prime Minister emphasized the need for prompt completion of government assistance to the victims of the recent torrential rains. Furthermore, the aid should be distributed to the affected individuals in a manner that is open and accountable.

The Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif, received a comprehensive briefing from the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and was told that a collaborative survey with the provinces, particularly the Balochistan Government, will be promptly conducted to verify the extent of damage to houses, both entirely and partially destroyed.

The meeting acknowledged that, as per the Prime Minister’s directives, a grand total of 766,000 kilograms of dry ration will be delivered in Gwadar by March 24. As of March 16, 388,000 kilograms of rations had already been distributed.

In addition, a total of 97,000 kilograms of dry rations had been delivered in Quetta and Dalbandin.

During the briefing with the Prime Minister, it was conveyed that the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has offered aid to the victims of Gaza. Specifically, a total of 320 tons of relief items have been dispatched to Gaza since October.

The conference was attended by Ahad Khan Cheema, the Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Establishment, Lt. Gen. Inam Haider Malik, Chairman of NDMA, and other high-ranking officials.
