Public and freight transport fares increased due to escalating petrol prices.

The Pakistan Goods Transport Alliance has declared a 10 percent augmentation in freight charges due to an escalation in gasoline prices.
Alliance President Malik Shehzad Awan asserted that transporters nationwide denounced the persistent escalation of fuel costs, which is exacerbating inflation and leading to widespread unemployment as a result of government policies.
Awan also implored the government to rescind all penalties imposed by motorway and traffic authorities.
In a related action, public transport operators have implemented an immediate 5% fare hike.
Both decisions arise as the sector contends with escalating operational expenses due to the increase in petroleum prices.
The federal government has issued a notification regarding an increase in petroleum product prices.
The Petroleum Division has announced an increase in fuel and diesel prices by Rs26.77 per litre.
The revised price of petrol is now Rs393.35 per litre, and diesel is priced at Rs380.19 per litre.
The Petroleum Division said that the adjusted prices of fuel and diesel will take effect at midnight.
