Qalibaf: Iran refuses to engage in negotiations “under threat”

According to senior authorities, Iran has rejected the idea of talks with the United States under what it characterizes as coercive conditions.

Speaker of the Parliament Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf declared on Tuesday that Tehran would not hold negotiations with Washington in the face of threats.

He attacked US President Donald Trump in a post on X, claiming that he was behaving with “delusions” about the nature of negotiations.

Qalibaf’s remarks come after Iran claimed that the US had repeatedly broken a cease-fire deal that was signed two weeks prior.

These include the US seizing an Iranian merchant ship in the Sea of Oman and imposing a naval blockade of Iranian ports.

According to Qalibaf, Washington’s actions were intended to either justify a resumption of hostilities or transform negotiations into what he called a “table of surrender.”

Qalibaf reiterated that Tehran will not engage in negotiations under duress and emphasized that such pressure methods would be ineffective.

In response to recent events, the speaker of the parliament stated that Iran has been preparing further actions, raising the prospect of escalation if tensions continue.

Following the US navy’s arrest of an Iranian cargo ship, there is still uncertainty surrounding the next round of US-Iran negotiations in Islamabad.
