Rawalpindi and Islamabad are closed for the third day; the highway and internet have been restored.

In response to a religious party’s protest action, a number of roadways in the twin towns of Rawalpindi and Islamabad were closed for the third day in a row on Sunday. Nonetheless, the Lahore-Islamabad Motorway was reopened, and cell phone service was partially restored.

Daily life in Rawalpindi and the capital city is still being seriously interrupted by a religious party’s continuing demonstration. Commuters are having trouble because to the shutdown of several roadways and access points. Until further notice, the Metro Bus Service is still suspended.

Roads that go to residential areas in Rawalpindi have been reopened, while obstacles in the streets that connect to Murree Road have been taken down. However, the motorway, IJP Road, Faizabad, and Murree Road—the main thoroughfares connecting Rawalpindi and Islamabad—remain closed.

Sources claim that there are still obstacles on the roads leading to Rawalpindi Airport, including blocked walkways.

The M-2 route between Lahore and Islamabad has been reopened to traffic, and traffic flow is again “back to normal,” according to a statement from Motorway Police.

Additionally, traffic on the Islamabad Motorway has been partially opened. The road from Rawalpindi to Faizabad remains closed, although the road that connects Ninth Avenue to Double Road has been partially reopened.
