Senate Meeting Today: Seven-Point Agenda Set

ISLAMABAD: The Senate will meet today, Thursday, at 4pm in Parliament House. Officials say a seven-point agenda has been issued, though it came out quietly.
The session will start with the Quran recitation, then the usual Question Hour. After that, Senator Ali Zafar is expected to present a report from the information committee. The report is about the challenges journalists face — something the late Senator Irfan Siddiqui had raised on July 15.
The National Agri Trade and Food Safety Authority Bill is also on the agenda. Minister for National Food Security Rana Tanveer Hussain will push the motion for the bill to be discussed further. No rush, but the House will debate it again.
Another item is a calling-attention notice about the freezing and closure of bank accounts of current and former lawmakers. Senator Jan Muhammad will bring it up.
Finally, Senator Muhammad Talha Mahmood will highlight the poor condition of roads connecting Chitral with the rest of the country. He will ask the Minister for Communications what steps are being taken to fix them.
The meeting is expected to cover these points and wrap up by evening, though as always, timing can shift.
