Former foreign minister and vice chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Shah Mahmood Qureshi, was detained by Lahore Police on Sunday in connection with eight more charges.
Qureshi was arrested in Adiala Jail about events that happened on May 9 and the cipher case. Qureshi is presently being jailed there.
In this context, a team from the Lahore Police arrived at the jail to apprehend Qureshi and take down his statement. The inquiry team then requested authorization to move Qureshi to Lahore for additional interrogation; however, the request was turned down by the Anti-Terrorism Court Lahore on the grounds of security.
Rather, the police were able to question Qureshi at Adiala Jail and the court granted a 3-day remand.
Following the completion of the remand, he will appear via video link in the Anti-Terrorism Court.
