Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui’s retirement notice was given.

Siddiqui’s retirement notification was given following President Asif Ali Zardari’s consent upon reaching the age of superannuation on June 30, 2021.

The notification said that Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui’s suspension notification has been revoked following the issue of the retirement notification.

In light of the Supreme Court of Pakistan’s decision on March 22, 2024, the president allowed the issue of a retirement notification under Article 195 of the Pakistani Constitution earlier this month.

The president also accepted the retraction of the Law and Justice Division’s notification dated 11-10-2018 seeking Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui’s removal as Judge of the Islamabad High Court.

Earlier in March, the Supreme Court overruled the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC)’s October 2018 notification, which resulted in the removal of Islamabad High Court (IHC) senior puisne judge Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui.

Siddiqui’s expulsion was the result of significant allegations he made against a previous intelligence head.

The 23-page verdict produced by CJP Justice Qazi Faez Isa ruled that Siddiqui should be considered a retired high court judge and will be entitled to retirement privileges and benefits.

Siddiqui, what did you say?
On July 21, 2018, Justice Shaukat Siddiqui accused former Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) chief Lt Gen Faiz Hameed and other officials of attempting to corrupt the IHC benches and accountability courts that work under the high court.

Around a week after the occurrence, the SJC filed a misconduct complaint against the IHC judge for allegedly violating the judge’s code of conduct. On October 11, 2018, the council called for his removal.

The former judge later filed a petition with the Supreme Court challenging the SJC order. However, his appeal against the council’s decision was heard only after Justice Isa was appointed Pakistan’s chief justice.
