The celebration of International Firefighters’ Day is taking place today.

On the occasion of International Firefighters Day, which is being commemorated today (Monday), countries all over the world, including Pakistan, come together to pay respect to the bravery and sacrifices sacrificed by firefighters who bravely risk their lives to protect communities during times of emergency.
This day, which was established in 1999 as a sad reminder of the inherent dangers that firefighters encounter in the line of duty, was established in response to a tragic event that occurred in Australia in 1999, in which five firemen lost their lives while combating a sudden wildfire.
Because of the unique and dangerous nature of their work, firemen are held in high esteem all across the world. They are honoured for their unwavering commitment.
It is not enough for them to just put out fires; they are also responsible for carrying out complex rescue operations, which frequently take place in hazardous and unpredictably hazardous conditions and call for specialised skills and equipment.
In the year 2004, the Rescue 1122 Service was established in Punjab, which was a key step towards enhancing the resources available for responding to emergency situations.
Nevertheless, the path that led to the construction of a competent fire service was not devoid of obstacles, which ultimately resulted in the formation of the Fire Rescue Service in the year 2007.
Firefighters in Karachi have been put in difficult situations, despite the fact that they have displayed selfless dedication. The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC), which is struggling to meet its financial obligations, has had a difficult time providing its fire service with the necessary resources and facilities.
At the same time that the globe is commemorating International Firefighters Day, it simultaneously draws emphasis on the urgent need to address the issues that these unsung heroes are facing.
